Summit Christian Academy took down two teams to earn a spot in the Final Four, for the first time in school history.

“Our wins were a true testament to teamwork,” Summit Christian Academy head coach Mikki Shearer said. “When someone faltered, another teammate stepped up. As a coach, I feel very blessed to be a part of this team and school for such a time as this.”

The Eagles, 21-8-4, defeated St. Paul Lutheran 25-21, 20-25 and 25-22 in the Class 2 sectionals held Nov. 2 at Bishop LeBlond, then beat Bishop LeBlond 25-23 and 25-18 in the quarterfinals.

Summit Christian Academy will face St. Piux X (Festus) in the semifinals Nov. 8 at the Show-Me Center, Cape Girardeau. A win will put the Eagles in the championship match against Hermann or Fair Grove at 3 p.m. Nov. 9.

Lee’s Summit West defeated Liberty 25-20 and 25-22 in the Class 4 sectionals Nov. 2 at Liberty but lost to Park Hill South 29-27, 20-25 and 20-25 in the quarterfinals.

The Titans end their season with a 28-8-1 record.
