All three Lee’s Summit R-7 School District high schools theater students are presenting an exciting theatre season with productions running through next spring. Theatre schedules follow, including contact information and websites for each school.
Lee’s Summit High School will kick off the holiday season with Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas,” scheduled for Nov. 15, 16, 22, 23 and 24. This holiday classic follows two World War II vets and their song and dance act as they end up following a couple of beautiful sisters to Vermont. While there they decide they can help out their old general. This musical is full of songs you know and love and is a great way to start your holiday for your family.
This winter LSHS will bring “Clue: The Musical” to the stage. Based on the board game and 1985 movie, this campy musical is sure to have you laughing. Was it Ms. Scarlet or Professor Plum? Was it in the study or the billiard room, with the knife or lead pipe? This interactive audience experience will have you guessing as you fill out your game card. You can use your deduction skills to solve the mystery Feb. 21-22 and Feb. 28-March 2.

Lee’s Summit North High School leads off with “Shrek the Musical,” based on the Oscar-winning Dreamworks film that started it all. This show is part romance, part twisted fairytale, and all irreverent fun for everyone. Performances are at 7 p.m. Nov. 8, 9, 15 and 16 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 10.
North’s season continues with the classic Arthur Miller play “All My Sons.” This gripping drama will stay with you long after you leave the theatre. The play runs at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 and March 1 and at 2 p.m. March 2.
LSNHS will conclude its season with William Shakespeare’s beloved “Much Ado About Nothing.” Retold for stage and screen, this timeless work examines the games we play when love is at stake. The play will be offered at 7 p.m. April 11 and 12 and at 2 p.m. April 13.

LSWHS continues the year with a modern take on a holiday classic. “Humbug” tells the story of cold-hearted miser Eleanor Scrooge and her transformation during the holiday season. “Humbug” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 13 and 14 and at 2:30 p.m. Dec 14 and 15.
West’s main-stage season will conclude with the classical big band musical, “Anything Goes” at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 7, 8, 14 and 15 and at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 16. The musical, featuring the music of Cole Porter, focuses on a group of passengers aboard the S.S. American and the antics that ensue when an escaped con joins them for their journey.
“Disney’s High School Musical: On Stage” will be performed at LSWHS at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 and March 1. This 90-minute adaption of the iconic Disney film is the quintessential musical about following your passion.
In addition, LSWHS will present a series of student-directed one-act plays April 5 and 6. “Zombie Prom” will be performed at LSWHS at 7:30 p.m. April 11 and 12 and 2:30 p.m. April 13. This musical takes place in the 1950s, following the story of high-school student Jonny who visits the nuclear plant and turns into a zombie.

All three high schools will also present yet-to-be-announced productions at the school district’s One-Act Play Festival to be performed on the LSNHS Stage, scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 6 and 7.
