LSHS students capture awards

Several students from Lee’s Summit High School recently captured awards at the Raymore-Peculiar Art Show and Skills Competition. In addition to the individual awards, LSHS placed second overall in the Kansas City metropolitan area contest.

In the graphic design category, Emily Sparks won a first and a second place. In mixed media, Ama Idun won first place. In photography, Connery Baltz won second and Chris Mitchell placed third. In printmaking, Jacob Buffington and Lucas Carrasco placed second. In drawing still life, Michaela Murphy won first and Lauren Davis won third. In figure drawing, Katya Enriquez won third place.

In addition, LSHS student Anna Jorgenson was a winner in the Missouri Red Ribbon Week Art Contest. She won first place in the ninth-grade division. Her artwork will be featured on a 12-month calendar distributed throughout the state. She also wins her choice of a prize valued at approximately $100.
