Percy W. Decker

Percy W. Decker, 92, of Lee’s Summit, passed away on Nov. 20 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Langsford Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Lee’s Summit Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Village Hospice in Lee’s Summit or KC VA Medical Center: Home Based Care of Kansas City. 


Percy was born in Houston, Mo. on Aug. 31, 1921. His family moved to Lee’s Summit from south Missouri on his seventh birthday, where he has resided. Percy was a Sergeant in the Army during World War II. He was a Prisoner of War in Germany. After military service, he was a farmer and truck driver. The family was active in the Lee’s Summit Saddle Club, 4-H, and Future Farmers of America.   


Percy is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Virginia (McPheeters) Decker; a son, Steve Decker, Gilmer, Texas, two daughters, Peggy Roberts Jeannin and the late Stephen Jeannin of Lake Winnebago, and Pam Callahan and husband, Greg of Centerview, Mo. Grandchildren are: Todd Decker (Stefanie); Jeff Roberts (Carrie); Allyson Decker; T.J.Callahan (Kari); Jake Callahan; and Melanie Brockhaus (Danny), and nine great grandchildren. He has many more nieces, nephews and friends.
