December 6, 2013

Three players scored in double digits Dec. 4 to lead the Lee’s Summit North Lady Broncos to the championship game of the Lee’s Summit North Invitational.

The host team advanced by downing Notre Dame de Sion 75-47. The Lady Broncos were led by Erica Nelson’s 21 points, Imani Johnson’s 17 points and 11 points by Stevie Anderson.

Jaden Powell chipped in with 9 points as the Broncos improved to 3-0 on the young season. They will take on Truman at 6 p.m. Dec. 6 for the tournament title.

“It was a great team effort,” Broncos head coach Tricia Lillygren said. “We did a great job of passing to find the open player.”

Truman advanced to the final by knocking off Lee’s Summit West 52-32. Truman led throughout, riding a hot start to build a 30-11 lead at halftime.

Riding the hot shooting of Taylor Jackson, who knocked down five 3-point baskets, the Titans were able to claw back in the third quarter to cut the lead to 11. However, the Patriots managed to pull away for the 20-point win.

Jackson led all scorers with 18 points while Becca Jonas led Truman with 17.
