LSHS Tiger Smart to help host fundraiser for graduate battling cancer

Lee's Summit JournalDecember 11, 2013

Lee’s Summit High School Tiger Smart is helping sponsor Run for Rindsay, a princess-themed 5K/2K run through Downtown Lee’s Summit.

All proceeds will benefit 23-year-old Lindsay Ripley (also known as Rindsay), a 2008 LSHS graduate who is battling a rare, genetic cancer. The event will begin at 9 a.m. Jan. 4 at Lee’s Summit High School with all proceeds from the race and the after party going to Lindsay and her family to help defray the cost of medical bills.

Check-in/registration for the race and the after party will be held inside the LSHS fieldhouse.

The idea of a princess run originated from a “bucket list” created by Lindsay Ripley, which she developed after doctors informed her that she was terminally ill. One of the items on her list was to be an honorary member of the Princess Marathon at Disneyworld.

The race will be followed by a silent auction and a “princess ball” to allow walkers, runners and supporters to gather and bid on items. The auction and ball will be held inside the fieldhouse.
