Shannon Michelle (McKinzie) Adams

Shannon Michelle (McKinzie) Adams, age 32, of Kansas City, passed away Dec. 8, 2013 at home, following an extended illness (Hodgkin’s lymphoma). Shannon was born January 2nd, 1981 in Rolla, Mo. She was a graduate of Raytown High School (1999), Southwest Baptist University (2003) and The University of Missouri-Kansas City (2005) and worked as a nurse at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City from 2001 until 2011. She was married to David Adams in 2005 and gave birth to their daughter, Taylor Grace, in January of 2010. She was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church, of Lee’s Summit, where she was actively involved in a mother’s ministry group and various Bible study groups. She is survived by husband David, their daughter Taylor, mother Melinda McKinzie, father Michael McKinzie, brother Jonathan McKinzie and his wife Sarah, other family and a host of friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Dec.12 at Abundant Life Baptist Church at 414 SW Persels Rd, Lee’s Summit. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, December 13th at 10:00 am, also at Abundant Life Baptist Church. Interment will be at Lee’s Summit Cemetery located at the intersection of SE 3rd street and Highway 291, in Lee’s Summit. In lieu of flowers, donations to “Sharing for Shannon” are being accepted and will be used to provide scholarships that will send students to youth camps and on mission trips abroad.
