Mrs. Muriel Kauffman will be the guest speaker at the Rotary Club meeting at Unity. Mrs. Kauffman is a graduate of Ontario Ladies College and the wife of Ewing Kauffman, president of Marion Laboratories, a company involved in marketing products for the health industry. She and her husband own the Kansas City Royals, a major league baseball team. She is active in civic and cultural affairs in Kansas City.

The Mountain Music Show from Branson, Missouri will have one hour country music-comedy-variety show at the Lee’s Summit High School Auditorium. It is sponsored by the Lee’s Summit Lions Club.

Production was suspended on the $2 bill in 1965. Now the revival of the bill is being considered. Superstition surrounded the bills as they “carried a curse” because the initial version had a picture of Alexander Hamilton, the loser in a duel with Aaron Burr. The reputation of the $2 bill was also tainted by the notoriety it got in the election 1880 when Republicans were supposed to use the bills to buy votes.

Doug Hertzog has been named to the 4-H High School first team All-State Offensive Unit. The 6’1, 220 lb. senior tackle was an unanimous choice to the selection group from all over the state.
