SCA boys wins Eagle Invitational Tournament

December 18, 2013

The Summit Christian Academy boys’ varsity basketball team took first place in the Eagle Invitational Basketball Tournament recently held at SCA that featured eight teams from the Kansas City area.

The Eagles defeated University Academy in the championship game 80-75.

“The tournament drew teams like Lutheran High, Van Horn, O’Hara, and KC East,” SCA Athletic Director and Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Jake Kates said. “It was a great opportunity for our team to compete against schools we won’t meet in district play. Our guys were pushed and performed well. I anticipate an exciting season ahead.”

Taurin Hughes scored 39 points in the championship game and had three assists. Greg Nicoll scored six points, had three rebounds and two assists.
