R-7 high school students named November Optimist students of the Month

Six Lee’s Summit R-7 School District high school seniors were recently named November Optimist Students of the Month by the Lee’s Summit Breakfast Optimist Club. The club honors six seniors each month for outstanding scholarship and citizenship.

Recognized students for November were Sydney Nyquist, Lee’s Summit High School; Andy Jarnevic, LSHS; Dylan Mackey, Lee’s Summit North High School; Anusha Kodidhi, Lee’s Summit West High School; and Drew Anderson, LSWHS. One LSNHS student, unable to attend, will be honored at a future meeting.

Sydney Nyquist, daughter of Miranda Nyquist and Jerome Nyquist, has been active in DECA, tiger smart, Club 121, tiger mentoring and is president of National Honor Society. After high school, Sydney plans to attend University of Missouri at Kansas City to major in communications for public relations work with non-profit organizations.

Andy Jarnevic, son of Michelle Jarnevic and Tom Jarnevic, has been active in math club, math competitions, scholar bowl, National Honor Society and is an International Baccalaureate Diploma candidate. After high school, Andy hopes to attend University of Chicago to major in math.

Dylan Mackey, son of Trina Mackey and James Mackey, has been active in lacrosse, National Honor Society and AFJROTC. After high school, Dylan plans to attend Purdue University to major in computer science, also participating in senior ROTC to receive his commission as an officer into the Air Force.

Anusha Kodidhi, daughter of Swarna Kodidhi and Sankar Kodidhi, has been active in Missouri Scholars Academy, A+ Program, National Honor Society, orchestra, student senate, student ambassadors, freshman mentoring, book club and is an International Baccalaureate Diploma candidate. After high school, Anusha hopes to attend University of Missouri Kansas City’s six-year medicine program and also study abroad in either Asia or Europe.

Drew Anderson, son of Lynn Anderson and Brad Anderson, has been active in baseball, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, freshman mentoring program, student ambassadors, titan smart and National Honor Society. After high school, Drew plans to attend University of Alabama to pursue a degree in business.
