Brent Blevins named R-7 deputy superintendent of operations

Brent Blevins, currently superintendent of the Forsyth R-3 School District, was named Lee’s Summit R-7 School District deputy superintendent for operations for the 2014-15 school year.

Blevins’ appointment was approved by the R-7 Board of Education at a Dec. 19 meeting.

A Missouri educator since 1996, Blevins will replace Tom Kurucz, who is retiring at the end of the 2013-14 school year.

Blevins has served as superintendent of the Forsyth R-3 School District since 2007. Before becoming superintendent, Blevins worked within the Forsyth R-3 School District as an assistant superintendent, assistant principal and teacher.

He began his teaching career as a social studies teacher and coach at the Spokane School District, becoming a physical-education teacher and coach for the Ava School District before beginning at Forsyth in 1999.

Blevins earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the College of the Ozarks and his master’s degree, specialist degree and doctorate in educational administration from Lindenwood University.
