LS North Men's Choir selected to perform at conference

January 8, 2014

The Lee’s Summit North High School Men’s Choir was recently selected to perform at the prestigious Missouri Music Educators Association conference, scheduled for Jan. 22-25 at the Tan-Tar-A resort in Osage Beach.

The group will present a pre-MMEA concert Jan. 21 at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Pierson Auditorium, which is located in the Atterbury Student Success Center at 5000 Holmes, Kansas City.

The UMKC event is open to the public, and begins at 7:30 p.m.

The LSNHS Men’s Choir is directed by Steven Perry and Jonathan Krinke. The group’s MMEA performance is scheduled at 11:15 a.m. at Tan-Tar-A, Salon C.

A total of 10 choirs from Missouri elementary and secondary schools, and universities were selected.

The LSNHS Men’s Choir was the only men’s choir selected. Performing groups were selected through a “blind” audition with a panel of judges reviewing recordings without knowing the names of the groups, the schools or the directors’ names.

More than 160 applications were reviewed this year.
