Babysitter Boot Camp

9 a.m.-2 p.m., Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation, Harris Park Community Center, 110 SW Blue Parkway–Youth aspiring to babysit will learn how to care for and play effectively with children of all ages. Includes first aid and CPR. Participants need to bring a sack lunch and drink. Fee is $28.Call 969-1500 to register.

American Sewing Guild

1-3 p.m. Cass Co. library in Belton–A video will be shown about needles, threads and tensions, produced by Superior Threads.  Anyone with interest in sewing is welcome to join us.  For more information call Anita at  540-2096.

Linus

1-3 p.m., Hobby Lobby, 1015 NE Rice Rd - Third Tuesday of each month. Bring your sewing machine and help make small quilts for Linus to give to children in the hospital.  We especially need people willing to quilt finished tops. More info call Dianne at   816-868-6903.

Helping Hands of the Willing Workers

1 p.m., Longview Chapel Christian Church, 850 SW Longview Road – Join a weekly group that makes crafts and sews for the benefit of the church. The Helping Hands make items throughout the year to earn money for the building fund and make cheer baskets for the homebound. The group invites anyone looking for fellowship, fun and those who enjoy creating items, to join them. The group furnishes all supplies and is always looking for new ideas. 4:45 p.m., Lee’s Summit Firefighters Union Hall, 322 SE Douglas St. – The club’s mission is to meet the charitable needs of the local community and participate in worldwide humanitarian causes by utilizing the energy and dedication of its members. The program will be a reveal of house blocks completed by member's.  This year we will be having guest speakers, sew days, a retreat, & more.
