R-7 student was struck by a vehicle

January 17, 2014

A female R-7 student was struck by a vehicle Friday morning.

Lee's Summit Police reported that at 8:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to SW Batten Drive and SW Raintree Drive on a report of a child struck by a car. Reports indicate the child was attempting to cross Raintree Drive to board her school bus when she was struck by a car traveling east.

The report also said the school bus had stopped but not deployed its "stop" arm yet. The child was walking beside the vehicle but began to run when noticing the bus had stopped.

The driver of the car was not cited by police in the accident. The female student was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
