Family Literacy Night at Prairie View Elementary Jan. 23

January 22, 2014

Prairie View Elementary School will host Jan. 23 Family Literacy Night/Bingo for Books, a joint effort between the PVE literacy team and their PTA.

The event will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and feature two opportunities for fun that emphasizes the importance of reading and literature.

There will be a life-sized board game, “Winter ‘Wonder’land” in the south library. The board game will use students, dressed as snowmen, as game pieces around a winter themed game board.

Two teams of students will answer reading questions that will move their “game pieces” throughout the board. A large dice will be rolled to determine how far they will go. Books will go to the winners.

PTA will hold Bingo for Books in the cafeteria. Reading themed boards will be played on as a bingo game. The winners of each game will also receive books.

The event is to promote reading and literacy in homes. Books are purchased by PTA funds and profits from Scholastic Book Fairs held throughout the year.
