Summit Pointe Elementary receives $2,500 grant

January 29, 2014

Summit Pointe Elementary was recently awarded a $2,500 grant as a first-place winner in the Quaker Make Your Move Contest, sponsored by Quaker Oats Company.

PTA families worked together to create a 60-second video featuring Summit Pointe students participating in Fuel Up to Play 60, a national initiative encouraging students to stay active and eat healthy.

During the video, which was submitted to Quaker Oats, students showcased a variety of ways they stay fit while having fun, including dancing, jumping rope and hula-hoops.

More than 35 students participated, representing students from kindergarten through sixth grade.

The grant money will be used to promote active lifestyles at Summit Pointe Elementary School.
