Patricia Carter

Patricia Lucille Luppens Carter, age 81, of Lee’s Summit, passed away Feb. 16, 2014 at Lee’s Summit Hospital from cancer. A Memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Feb. 20 at Langsford Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Carter was born on Oct. 30, 1932 in Omaha, Neb. She attended Central High School and graduated in Huntsville, Ala. In 1954, she graduated from the Research Hospital nursing program as a Registered Nurse. After a work career spanning 40 years, she retired from the Lee’s Summit Hospital, where she continued to volunteer in her department until her death. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church. Her greatest joy in life was her family, which included her husband of 62 years, Ben Carter, and her children, Jeffrey Carter and his wife Vicky, David Carter and his wife Kathleen, Cathy Whited, and Rick Carter and his wife Alisa.

She is survived by her brother Albert Luppens and his wife Valeaira, her brother James Luppens, and her sisters, Pearl Chambers and Elizabeth Campbell. She was grandmother to 10 and great-grandmother to eight.
