Jackson County Sheriff’s Office warns against scam

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office officials are warning the public against a scam that has developed in recent weeks.

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, individuals have been contacting them inquiring if they had criminal charges for failing to appear for jury duty.

When investigating the circumstances, investigators learned the victims were contacted by a male caller identifying himself as a lieutenant with the Jackson County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office.
