Spirit of business

February 28, 2014

I am extremely proud to be a part of Lee’s Summit, a place made up of a “community of doers.”

For us, it’s all about hard work and a moral sense of responsibility. We say what we mean and we do what we say in Lee’s Summit. We pride ourselves in being an environment where big ideas can take root, flourish and become nourished by our City’s collaborative culture.

Beginning with the City’s newly created Development Center; this one-stop shop helps entrepreneurs navigate the steps of the business development process from the application stage to final occupancy. Working together with our economic development partners at the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce, the Lee’s Summit Economic Development Council, Downtown Lee’s Summit Main St. Inc., and the Boost Lee’s Summit program, up-and-coming and current entrepreneurs are provided abundant resources to become and remain successful in the world of business.

We have a proven track record of being a community where the spirit of entrepreneurship can come alive and thrive. Our fertile business environment makes us the economic driver of Eastern Jackson County and the surrounding areas.

Lee’s Summit’s businesses vary from quaint and unique shops and restaurants located throughout our historic downtown to larger enterprises. We are leaders in education, healthcare, advance manufacturing, information technology, retail and professional services.

Our healthy business community creates jobs and generates revenue benefitting us all. Sales and property tax revenues contribute to our local economy, funding vital City services, which in turn help to enhance quality of life right here, in Lee’s Summit.

Just as important as our sprit of business, Lee’s Summit is a place where there lives a sense of spirit in the hearts of real people.

These are Lee’s Summit’s “Community of Doers” – the hard working, forward-thinking, innovative, progressive and supportive individuals building an even stronger and more vibrant community for generations to come.

And when you think about it, these are all great character traits to make Lee’s Summit an ideal community for conducting business, living, and enjoying quality of life.

Randy Rhoads has been mayor of Lee’s Summit since 2010.
