Lee’s Summit Sunrise Rotary Club

Lenten fish fry Fridays

5-7:30 p.m., (March 7-Apr. 11) St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 7877 NE Blackwell Road – This is NOT an ordinary church fish fry. Dining parties will be met at the door by the Maître D’, who will escort and seat diners. Waiters will take orders and return with a hot meal. A dessert table is included. Sheriff’s Posse texas hold’em tournament

6 p.m., check-in, 7 p.m., play starts, VFW Hall in downtown Lee’s Summit 329 SE Douglas. All proceeds benefit the Jackson County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse. $50 donation includes one buy-in, appetizers and two beverage tickets. Al-Anon

Noon, First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit, 1625 NW O’Brien Road – Is someone’s drinking causing you problems? Come to Al-Anon and join friends and family of alcoholics. The group meets weekly at noon on Mondays and 7:30 p.m. Thursdays.

Compulsive Eaters Anonymous HOW

5:30 p.m. Mondays, First Presbyterian Church, 1625 NW O’Brien Road.

Lee’s Summit Toastmasters Club

6 p.m., Morningside Business Center, 306 SE 291 Hwy. – The Lee’s Summit Toastmasters Club No. 5317 meets on the second and fourth Mondays each month for those interested in public speaking. Guests are always welcome.

GriefShare

6:30-8 p.m., First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit, 2 NE Douglas Street, in ADM-139 – This is a 13-week seminar and support group for those who have lost loved ones and/or friends through death. Each weekly GriefShare session will include a video seminar featuring top experts and a support group discussion with a focus. For additional information, please contact First Baptist Church at  816-525-0700. The cost is $15 for first timers and free for alumni.

Lee’s Summit Quilters’ Guild

9 a.m., Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, 4725 NE Lakewood Way – The program will be “Color Confidence” by Reeze Hanson from Ottawa, Kan. This entertaining program explores basic color theory from the quilter’s perspective and shows how to develop color confidence drawing on your own instincts, intuition, and preferences.

Helping Hands of the Willing Workers

1 p.m., Longview Chapel Christian Church, 850 SW Longview Road – Join a weekly group that makes crafts and sews for the benefit of the church. The Helping Hands make items throughout the year to earn money for the building fund and make cheer baskets for the homebound. The group invites anyone looking for fellowship, fun and those who enjoy creating items, to join them. The group furnishes all supplies and is always looking for new ideas.
