The Filling Station Barbecue at the corner of Fourth and Douglas Streets in Downtown Lee’s Summit is doing a great business. The building was a gas station in the early 1930’s. Framed and hanging on the wall inside the restaurant is an old deed listing the owner of the station as the Clark Family in 1948. Larry Bender redeveloped what appeared to be a downtown building ready for demolition into a successful barbecue restaurant in April 1999.
