Sunrise Rotary gives $10,000 to One Good Meal

March 12, 2014

Over 300 people supported Empty Bowls Feb. 1, sponsored by the Lee’s Summit Sunrise Rotary Club. It is a fund-raiser with its biggest benefactor One Good Meal, which serves meals for the home bound in the community.

On Feb. 28, a $10,000 check was given to Roberta McArthur, director of One Good Meal, and Dayton Runkle, who serves on the Board of One Good Meal. Presenting the check was Sunrise Rotary Club President, Carl Froeschle.

Empty Bowls was held at Longview Mansion. Local restaurants serve attendees their best soup, bread and dessert. Each person also receives a custom made ceramic bowl made by a local craftsman.
