The Lee’s Summit Fire Department Fire Prevention Program was named Number One in the state. Fire Chief is Ken Wright. Deputy Fire Chiefs are Andy Muse, Ray Figley and Jim Nacy. Fire prevention officer is George Melling. Fire Advisory Board members are Oma Tiller, Carroll Foster, Jim Murray, Frank Bowness and Richard Burry.

There was a full page story in the Journal about auctioneers Claude Raynes and Jerry Hertzog. After a farm accident in 1951 Raynes had to quit farming. He has been holding auctions ever since. Jerry Hertzog joined him five years ago.

Doctor Herbert A. Dempsey, Sr. M.D., has completed continuing education requirements to retain active membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians, the national association of family doctors.
