Echoes

Lee's Summit JournalMarch 21, 2014

the gods huddled

time out style

talked quietly

conspiring

to take over

the game

mysterious

beenhereforever

walked by

inquired

what are

you guys

discussing

oh nothing

they replied

then a brave one

blurted

weve noticed

you losing

a little energy

maybe its time

to rest where

our tired gods go

mysterious

beenhereforever

paused

breathed deeply

exhaled into

the chaos

a deafening

explosion

shook

empty space

looks good

he concluded

while the gods

stared in shocked

surprise

thats the

biggest bang

weve ever heard

they exclaimed

from atom size

a universe expanded

by trillions of trillions

it happened

fourteen billion

years ago

a blink of

mysterious

beenhereforevers

eyes

now a species

on a spinning

ball of debris

in the corner

of a galaxy

believe theyve

seen a glimpse

of evidence

long theorized

mysterious

beenhereforever

smiles

while filling in

his tournament

brackets

not the major

national collegiate

it has become

so out of control

semi pro

he lets the elite

teams have their

expensive fun

still enjoys

an upset

likes most to watch

the small class one

high schools compete

story goes

a spittin image

of him

came out of

a place

like them

once
