Woodland Elementary students and staff members celebrated International Day of Happiness March 20 with a variety of activities.

To prepare for the special day, staff and students were asked to write, share or draw what makes them feel happy. Posters and signs created for the Day of Happiness were displayed on the school’s walls.

Other activities throughout the school included upbeat music, dancing, sharing fun stories and jokes and playing happy or motivational videos. In addition, staff members wore smiley buttons for the occasion.

Several teachers showed the “Happy” song video from the movie “Despicable Me 2.”

The special day was organized at Woodland Elementary by Jill Powell, the school’s guidance counselor.
