A local young man from Boy Scout Troop 264 recently completed his Eagle Scout project by constructing light tables for Trailridge Elementary School.
Art teacher Mary Ann Cobb approached Troop 264 when she lost her windows in her classroom due to an addition being built on the school which made it difficult for her students to trace pictures without a lighted background.
Ben Carlyle-Ellebracht had been working to achieve his Eagle Scout Rank, and was up to the challenge.
Designing and constructing a light table was no easy task, even for a Life Scout. Trailridge Elementary sixth-grade teacher Dan Barns was particularly helpful in the design of the project. Lowe’s of Lee’s Summit contributed half of the material cost for the project.
Fellow scout patrol, Tim Degenhardt, Evan Dunning, Collin Hansen, Carter Loyd, several parents and family members contributed their time on a Saturday morning to help Ben build two light tables.
Cobb and her students were very excited to receive the donation.
Ben is the son of Trish Carlyle, the grandson of Vince and Donna Ellebracht, and brother to Alex and Elle.
