Three Lee’s Summit players have been selected to take part in the Greater Kansas City Basketball Association’s annual All-Star Challenge.
Monte Harrison of Lee’s Summit West, Taurin Hughes of Summit Christian Academy and Imani Johnson of Lee’s Summit North have been selected for the Missouri boys and girls teams, which will go against teams of Kansas All-Stars in two games on April 11th at Shawnee Mission South High School in Overland Park, Kan.
Harrison, a 6-foot-3 senior, averaged 18 points and eight rebounds a game during the Titans’ 27-3 season, which ended with a third-place finish in the Class 5 state tournament. He is also a finalist for the DiRenna Award, which goes to the top boys and girls players in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
Hughes, a 6-foot senior, finished as Summit Christian’s career scoring leader and led the Eagles to a 24-6 record and the Class 3 quarterfinals.
Johnson, a 6-0 senior, is also a DiRenna Award finalist after leading the Broncos to a second-place finish in the Class 5 girls tournament. She averaged nearly 18 points a game as she broke the Broncos career scoring record.
The boys and girls games will feature some of the top high school senior boys and girls from throughout the greater Kansas City area, including several DiRenna Award finalists and many players who will play at the NCAA Division I level next year.
The doors will open at 5 p.m. with the girls game beginning at 6 p.m. followed by the boys game 15 minutes after the conclusion of the girls game. In addition to the games, there will be a slam-dunk contest at halftime of the boy’s game.
