Russell Ritter and Robert Gourley were elected to the Lee’s Summit School Board. W.R. McKee was elected mayor. Anderson Long, Kelly Williams and Lester Patterson were elected to the city council.

Representative Robert T. Johnson has filed for re-election for representative to the Missouri House of Representatives.

Construction should begin on the long awaited Interstate-470 project through Lee’s Summit in the next 14 months. Various economic and political problems have caused many setbacks in the scheduling of the project and the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce, realizing the tremendous impact this project will have on the area, is making every effort for the project to get underway.
