April 11, 2014

Join us for the Kids Fishing Derby sponsored by Lee’s Summit Parks & Recreation, The Rob Ellerman Team and the Optimist Club of Lee’s Summit. The derby is for kids ages 2-16 and will take place May 17 at Legacy Park Lake. Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. with the derby starting at 10 a.m. All participants will be fishing from the shore or dock of Legacy Park Lake. Derby prizes will be awarded biggest and smallest fish at 11:15 a.m. Must be present to win.

This fishing derby provides children an introduction to sport fishing and the responsibility of caring for our natural resources. A Missouri fishing license is not required for kids but is for adults (16+). Bring your own rods and reels! Registration includes a container of worms.

Legacy Park Lake is located at 901 NE Bluestem Drive in Lee’s Summit. Pre-registration is requested and is just $2 when registered by May 2. After that it increases to $3. To register call Lee’s Summit Parks & Recreation at 816-969-1500 or online at
