April 16, 2014

School-sponsored bowling teams from Lee’s Summit High School, Lee’s Summit North High School and Lee’s Summit West High School recently qualified for the Missouri State Bowling Tournament, scheduled for May 24 in Union, Mo. All three teams qualified at the Northwest Zone Missouri Bowling Proprietors Association High School Bowling Club tournament held at Summit Lanes in Lee’s Summit.

At the zone competition, Lee’s Summit High School placed first, averaging 201. Lee’s Summit West placed second, averaging 191. Lee’s Summit North placed third, averaging 186. Twelve teams attended the tournament with twelve Baker games being bowled.

LSHS, LSNHS and LSWHS will be competing for a portion of $10,000 in scholarship money at state, which included only 24 teams. At state competition, teams bowl 24 Baker games to determine the winners. Each year a different zone hosts the event. This is the fourth consecutive year LSHS and LSNHS have won a spot at state and the first year for LSWHS.
