Kim Hassler named assistant principal for Lee's Summit, Richardson Elementary Schools

Kim Hassler was named 2014-15 assistant principal for Lee’s Summit Elementary and Richardson Elementary at the R-7 Board of Education’s April 10 meeting.

Hassler is currently a teacher at Richardson Elementary. At Richardson, she will replace Lisa Detig, who was recently named 2014-15 principal for Richardson. The Lee’s Summit Elementary assistant principal is a new position. Hassler will begin her new job in July.

A Lee’s Summit resident, Hassler has worked at Richardson Elementary since 2004, teaching third and sixth grades. She previously taught at an elementary school in Montreal, Quebec; in adult education through the North Kansas City School District; as an elementary teacher in the Park Hill School District; and as an elementary teacher in Yukon, Okla.

Hassler earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from William Jewell College, her master’s degree in educational studies from McGill University in Montreal and her education specialist in elementary administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

She is participating in the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District Leadership Academy this school year and is an R-7 Diversity Team facilitator, a member of the Technology Team and a facilitator for her school’s Partners In Education Team. In addition, Hassler has received the Missouri PTA Lifetime Membership Award.
