Lee’s Summit names new chief technology officer

April 18, 2014

Cathy Loveland has been promoted to Chief Technology Officer for Lee’s Summit.

She had been acting chief technology officer following the resignation of Randy Dickey in November 2013. In her new role, Loveland is responsible for overseeing the Office of Information Technology with a staff of 28 and an annual budget of $3.5 million.

“I am honored to be given the opportunity to step into this leadership role at the city,” Loveland said. “There is a great group of talented professionals in the Office of Information Technology where everyone plays a vital role in providing central management of information technology throughout this entire organization. I am extremely proud to be a part of ensuring the success of this critical function for the city.”

Loveland had been assistant director and will continue to manage Application Management Services.

“We are fortunate to have an excellent internal candidate to continue the strategic planning, management and financial administration of the organization’s technology division,” said City Manager Stephen Arbo. He said she had proven herself as a leader by helping to ensure a smooth transition and implementation of the division re-organization that city council approved last fall.

She has a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Central Missouri and professional development in the disciplines of leadership, performance management and quality assurance.
