LSNHS, LSWHS families host students from Argentina and Chile

Families from Lee’s Summit North High School and Lee’s Summit West High School recently hosted students and adult mentor/teachers from Argentina and Chile. A total of 13 students and two adults from South America visited the Lee’s Summit area March 28 through April 8.

This exchange was coordinated in association with the Kansas City International Visitors Council and is sponsored by the United States State Department. Students from Argentina and Chile developed leadership skills by meeting with local nonprofit organizations, participating in workshops and volunteering during their stay. The Chilean and Argentinean group also interacted and presented to Spanish students at Lee’s Summit North High School.

The following LSN students hosted students: Kristofer and Ethan Frostestad hosting Inaki Salcedo, Lindsey Graham hosting Andres Ramirez, Zachary Hitchcock hosting Facundo Rebullida, Masie and Makenna Taylor hosting Tamara Oksztajn, Julia and Jenna Lord hosting Nara Ricardes, Claire Neighbors hosting Constanza Garrido, Abby and Stephen Pierce hosting Karin Gonzalez, Kyle and Alexis Rampetsreiter hosting Jose (Nacho) Diaz, Logan Tootle hosting Leonardo Calbuyahue, Mayson Truman hosting Cristina Tada, and Jesse Dinkins hosting Martin Espinoza.

The following LSW students hosted students: Kiersten and Kourtney West hosting Soledad Rodriguez, and Mason Fender hosting Yoscelyn Fernandez.

The following teachers hosted the adult teacher/mentors: Vince and Robin Villa hosting Carmen Gloria Astudillo, and Kendall and James Mellem hosting Ana Laura Escalante.

The visit was coordinated by Robin Villa, LSNHS Spanish teacher.
