Each year the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce’s Education Committee awards $1,000 scholarships to four high school seniors.

One scholarship winner is selected from each of the three Lee’s Summit high schools, and one is selected from a school outside of the district. One parent of each recipient must be a full-time employee of a Chamber member business.

Congratulations to the following students who received scholarships in 2014:

Michael Kuehn - Lee’s Summit North High School

Alexander Lange - Lee’s Summit West High School

Paige Sapp - Lee’s Summit High School

Lonnie Todd - Odessa High School

This year more than 40 applications were received. The judges, made up of Chamber education committee members, said they had a tough time with the decision due to the caliber of applicants.

Applicants are evaluated based on the following criteria:

A strong work ethic

A commitment to community involvement

An endless pursuit of continued growth and improvement in all facets of their lives
