April 30, 2014

Summit Christian Academy senior Bri Slagle was recently recognized by the Congressional Art Competition, 5th District. Her painting “Play Along the Way” recently won fourth-place. The competition entitled, “A Voyage of Artistic Discovery,” was presented by Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II and his wife Dianne Cleaver.

Several other SCA students had art work submitted to the competition, including senior Wade Johnson, juniors Mykyla Jones and Anna Pickert, and freshman Joy Rogers.

The Kansas City Art Institute awarded a $175 gift certificate to the second through fifth- place winners in the competition, along with their teachers. Bri’s painting will be one of six pieces on display at Missouri Bank at 125 Southwest Boulevard during the Crossroads District First Fridays. Her work will then move to the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art on May 24.
