Summit Technology Academy, operated by the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District, celebrated its 15th anniversary with a special event on April 23.

Current and former students, staff members, business partners and families were invited to a reception recognizing the school’s success and growth over the past 15 years.

Summit Technology Academy offers a pre-professional learning environment that prepares college-bound students for the 21st Century workforce. The school challenges students to be independent learners and take an active role in their learning through hands-on projects and collaborative assignments. Summit Technology Academy partners with businesses to help students have professional work experiences.

Summit Technology Academy is home to the Missouri Innovation Campus, a unique collaborative effort involving the R-7 School District, the University of Central Missouri, Metropolitan Community College and a number of business partners. Through this nationally recognized program, students participate in a rigorous, accelerated program that prepares them for high-demand careers and reduces their higher-education costs to almost nothing.

All courses are offered through a half-day program with students splitting their time between their home high schools and Summit Technology Academy.
