LS Educational Foundation presents over $58,000 in PEAK grants at 25 schools Over a two-day period in early May, Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation Board members visited schools across the district, surprising R-7 School District teachers with the Foundation’s PEAK (Promote Excellence And Knowledge) Grants. Teachers apply for these grants annually, which are funded by contributions to the Foundation from individuals, organizations, businesses and memorial gifts. PEAK Grants cover a large variety of curricular areas and touch the lives of thousands of Lee’s Summit R-7 students. The grants are awarded by the Foundation’s “PEAK Patrol” during May each school year. As of spring 2014, the Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation had awarded $670,370 in PEAK Grants over the past 19 years. In the photo, Foundation members ride the school bus between school visits.
