May’s Fourth Friday is from 5 to 8 p.m. May 23, in Downtown Lee’s Summit, and is packed with a variety of activities, including the start of Music in the Park, artists receptions, “Cellular Cenes” street theater and Yoga in the Streets. Some of these events take place until 9 p.m.
Fourth Friday features art, live demos, music, food and more at participating Downtown Lee’s Summit businesses. LMS Wine Creators also offers “Drink & Draw” from 6 to 8 p.m., where artists can bring their sketchbooks and pencils, then draw from a live model at no charge to the artist.
The Music in the Park free concert series begins with the popular Kids’ Night from 6:15 p.m. to 10 p.m. May 23, in Howard Station Park on S.E. Main Street, and features Jack Snaps, Rockin’ Rob and State Line Drive. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and listen to music, walk around Downtown Lee’s Summit, and visit downtown shops and restaurants. Music in the Park continues every Friday from 6:30 to 10 p.m. through Aug. 29.
“Cellular Cenes” street theatre performance will be performed at 7 p.m. beginning at Red Door Wine Store. This is a unique outdoor theater experience where the audience, who are asked to leave their cell phones on during the performance, literally follows the story throughout the streets of Downtown Lee’s Summit. Last but not least, popular yoga instructor Debra O’Bryan is bringing Yoga in the Streets back to Downtown Lee’s Summit at 6:30 p.m. May 23, in the City Hall Plaza, 220 S.E. Green St. Bring a mat to this free outdoor yoga session, which is for all ages and skill levels. Yoga in the Streets also will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 25, and 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30.
