Thelma Mae Woodruff Allen

Thelma Mae Woodruff Allen, 88, Cass County, Mo., went to be with the Lord on May 12, after being surrounded by family and friends on Mother’s Day. She was in the care of Crossroads Hospice at the Pleasant Hill Rehabilitation Center.


Friends and family may visit from 1 to 2 p.m., on May 15, at the Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW 3rd Street, Lee’s Summit, Mo. Funeral services immediately following at 2 p.m.


Thelma was born in St. Charles, Ky., in 1925. She was married to K.P. (Cap) Allen for 57 years. 

She had one child, her beloved daughter, Kona Allen Waller. The family spent many happy years boating and fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks. Thelma was a Christian and a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Lee’s Summit. She also enjoyed shopping, quilting, sewing, planting flowers, bowling, decorating and arranging flowers, drinking Margaritas and playing with her priceless dog, Susie.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cap, her parents, two brothers and two sisters.  She is survived by her daughter, Kona, and son-in-law, Gary Waller; grandson, Timothy Gilbert and his wife Samantha, step-grandson, Christopher Waller and his wife, Molly; step-granddaughter, Lisa and her husband, Chase Savage; two great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. 

Thelma fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
