SCA qualifies seven for sectional track meet

Summit Christian Academy’s track team qualified seven athletes for sectionals at the Class 2 District 7 meet May 10 at Archie.

Freshman Carlie Queen qualified in the high jump and pole vault, setting district records in both events. Queen, whose season-best 5-foot-7 mark is tied for first in the state, cleared 5-4 in the high jump and 10-4 in the pole vault.

Erin Brownlee also qualified in two events for the Eagles. Brownlee placed fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 37.15 seconds and joined Annelise Parke, Madison Miller and Ashley Thompson to take second place in the 3,200 relay in 10:43.04.

SCA’s James Bailey placed second in the discus (139 feet, 1.5 inches) and shot put (45-4.5) to also qualify and Isaiah Lind placed third in the discus at 126-4.

The top four individuals in each event move on to the sectional meet, which will be May 17 at Kearney. The top four in each event at sectionals will compete in the Class 2 state meet May 23-24 in Jefferson City.
