Echoes

Lee's Summit JournalMay 16, 2014

graduation or

commencement

every day

is both

completions

beginnings

brief pauses

between

as we walk

across

our daily

stages

someone is

proud

grateful

sad

relieved

that it is

over

amazed

we did it

believes

we should

have been

flunked

hopeful

afraid

encouraged

apprehensive

about tomorrow

hold applause

until all

have made it

because

not everyone

has somebody

to cheer

for them

now

lets toss

our hats

hug

laugh

celebrate

we need

these

moments

many as

possible

to enjoy

together

we have

graduated

with what

we learned

yesterday

and are

commencing

to discover

what

we may

learn

next

more

known

opens

doors

to even

more

unknown

and

unlearning

that once

learned

may become

the hardest

part

having been

so interestingly

wrong

some mistakes

are beautiful

but let there

always

remain

enough

to make us

wonder

h.
