Divers to the rescue

May 16, 2014

The 20-plus members of the all-volunteer Lee’s Summit Underwater Rescue & Recovery team spent April 22-27 in intensive training. The group took up to six days of vacation to train and improve their skills. Battling severe weather and chilly water temperatures, LSUR made more than 200 dives during training exercises and certifications were earned in Rapid Deployment Search and Rescue, Large Area Search, Black Water Search Operations and Full Face Mask for Public Safety Diving, among others. Training and certification were facilitated by Lifeguard Systems.

Lee's Summit Journal is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
