Baseball districts begin this weekend

The high school baseball postseason begins this weekend with first-round play in district tournaments.

Lee’s Summit West has the No. 1 seed in the Class 5 District 13 tournament at Raymore-Peculiar. West, 24-3, will face the winner of the first-round game between Lee’s Summit and Belton at 4 p.m. May 19 in the semifinals.

Lee’s Summit, 19-10 and seeded fourth, and No. 5 Belton, 12-14, will play at 10 a.m. May 17. Rockhurst has the No. 2 seed and will face either host Ray-Pec or Ruskin on May 19.

Lee’s Summit North is the No. 3 seed in the Class 5 District 14 tournament at the Broncos Activity Complex. The Broncos, 13-15, will meet No. 6 Raytown South, 5-12, at 1 p.m. May 17 in the first round. The winner will face No. 2 Blue Springs, 13-14, at 3:30 p.m. May 19 in the semifinals. Blue Springs South, 19-11, has the No. 1 seed and will play either No. 4 Truman, 8-17, or No. 5 Raytown, 6-9, in the semifinals.

Summit Christian Academy, 14-9, is the No. 3 seed in the Class 3 District 14 tournament at Sherwood. SCA will play No. 6 Barstow, 2-10, at noon May 17. The winner will play No. 2 Holden, 19-6, 5:30 p.m. May 19 in the semifinals. Host Sherwood, 17-7, is the No. 1 seed.

The state baseball tournaments are scheduled for June 3-6 at T.R Hughes Ballpark in O’Fallon.
