Downtown mural stays for now

May 21, 2014

The Lee’s Summit City Council, by consensus, decided to allow the ‘Bout Thyme Deli mural to stay in place for now.

City Manager Steve Arbo at the May 15 council meeting wanted to make sure the majority of council members agree with delaying enforcement of a city ordinance that forbids signs painted on walls of businesses. The city will wait until the council reviews proposed ordinance changes that would govern murals, when the council members have the option of changing the rules so deli owner Dave Kemp can leave the sign in place.
