William Leonard Turano, MD

William L. Turano MD, 73, of Lee’s Summit, passed away suddenly on May 17, 2014. Death came to him in the home he designed and cherished. For 43 years, Bill was a prominent physician in Lee’s Summit, Blue Springs and Raytown, specializing in OBGYN. Visitation will be held, May 27 from 9-11 a.m. at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 5814 Euclid, Kansas City, Mo. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11a.m. Burial will be at Lee’s Summit Cemetery.

Bill was born and raised in New York. He attended Xavier High School, St. John’s University and New York Medical College. Bill is survived by Dorothy, his loving wife of 50 years, his children Leonard, Doreen, Kevin (Emily), Jeffrey (Tricia), grandchildren Alaina, Dominic, Lydia, Alexa, Sophia, Brooke, William, brother Frank, brother-in-law Martin, sister-in-law Carole (Andy) and nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends were dear to him.

Bill had a great sense of humor. He had a charming wit and a passion for life. He enjoyed playing the piano. He was a competitive sports fan and card player. He appreciated art and nurtured a beautiful garden. Bill’s generosity and strength will hold us unendingly. We love him and we are grateful for his life he shared. We believe he has joined beloved family now in paradise. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Emergency assistance program at St. Therese Little Flower.
