To Be or Not To Be…at Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation’s “Shakespeare Camp”

May 28, 2014

Camp Shakespeare for kids ages 8 to 14 is a unique summer arts experience that will create lasting memories. Camp takes place Monday through Friday, July 7-18 from 8:30a.m.-3:30 p.m. Students will improve their understanding of literature and renaissance times while creating their own version of a Shakespearean classic, “A Midsummer Night's Dream.” Drama, visual art, dance and stage combat all come together in the delightful camp, taught by professional actors. Participants will build confidence, be encouraged to use teamwork, and be motivated to unleash creativity. The camp can also improve reading skills and concentration. Parents and friends will be able to enjoy the fruits of the students’ labor by attending a final performance on the evening of the final day of camp. Camp Shakespeare will take place at Legacy Park Community Center in Lee’s Summit (901 NE Bluestem Drive). Preregistration is required with the early bird deadline being June 22 and final deadline July 2 or when the camp fills, space is limited. Go online at lsparks.net to register or call 816-969-1500.
