Bianca Maria Spurlock

Bianca Maria Spurlock, 75, passed away on May 23, at home in Lee’s Summit after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Visitation is May 30 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW Third Street, Lee’s Summit. Funeral Mass will be May 31 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Presentation church, 130 NW Murray Road, Lee’s Summit. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice.

Bianca was born in Padova, Italy on Sept. 4, 1938 and adopted into the Chiminello family. She was preceded in death by her parents Giacomo and Norma Chiminello and by her first husband, Ssgt. William F. Griffin.

She is survived by her husband Hershell Spurlock; sons Lorenzo and Laura (Mudroch) Griffin, Roberto and Melissa (Nevin) Griffin, and Franco and Kim (Castleman) Griffin; grandchildren Michael, Andrew, Brianna, Ryan, Sean and Megan; great-grandchild Taten; and countless extended family and friends.

Bianca was a vibrant lady who had an incredible zest for life. Her life revolved around her family and friends. Known and loved by many, she was active in bowling, bingo, water aerobics, a dinner party group, traveling, and dancing with her loving husband. She took pride in her home and beautiful flower gardens, and was known for her welcoming spirit and open house. Everyone she met was an instant friend. She will be greatly missed but her love and spirit live on in our hearts.
