SCA soccer season ends with loss to Lutheran

May 30, 2014

Summit Christian Academy’s girls soccer season came to an end with a 5-4 loss in overtime to Kansas City Lutheran May 27 in a Class 1 sectional contest at Center High School.

The loss concluded a season that saw SCA go 13-5-1 and win its first district championship.

“It was a really good game and the girls worked hard,” SCA girls soccer coach Amber Siemsen said. “We had the advantage throughout the game, but in the end Lutheran won on penalty kicks.”

SCA reached the sectional round by beating O’Hara 4-2 in the Class 1 District 13 final May 22 at O’Hara. Kassi Ginther scored two goals while Madison Sallas and Sky Masters had one apiece for the Eagles.

“I am super proud of this team,” Siemsen said. “We have never gone this far before. Next year will be our year because our team has strong freshmen and sophomores who are all returning.”
