The Lee’s Summit R-7 School District hosted its annual Partners In Education banquet April 17 at the John Knox Village Pavilion. The event included recognition of the R-7 school/business partnership program as well as entertainment and presentations by students.

More than 250 businesses and organizations are involved in the Partners In Education program through individual school partnerships, program partnerships and district partnerships. Partners In Education focuses on connecting students, curriculum and the business community. The program provides enriching activities and opportunities to R-7 School District students.

The event included entertainment from the Lee’s Summit North High School Jazz Band and Highland Park Elementary Music Leaders. Students and staff members involved in the Leader In Me at Highland Park Elementary and Pleasant Lea Elementary presented information about the difference this program is making in their schools.

Theme for the event, which was attended by approximately 280 people, was “Adding Relevance to Our Rigor.” Also included was a partnership showcase featuring students from throughout the school district.
