Trail Days coming up June 7

June 4, 2014

Jackson County Parks + Rec is offering Trails Days, a variety of traditional games and activities at Missouri Town 1855, guaranteed to bring smiles to all of the kids.

The event is 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 7 at 8010 East Park Road, Lee’s Summit, in Fleming Park. Admission is $5 for adults and children 5-13 and $3 for seniors, children under 5 free.

The games will include gunnysack races, stilts, tug-of-war and marbles are just a few of the time-honored classics. Special crafts projects, such as rope making and tin punching, will give your children a take-home memento to remember for years to come. Every kid is a winner when participating in an old-fashioned pie-eating contest.

There will be entertainment by the Missouri Town Musicians and Dancers. Missouri Town’s drover will show off the skills of the year-old ox team.

Dr. Field’s “Good Medicine Show” will feature magic tricks at morning and afternoon presentations.

Also in observance of National Trails Day, a special exhibit will provide information about your ever-expanding Jackson County’s Biking and Hiking Trails System.

Lee's Summit Journal is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
